Just some food for thought...Awhile ago Lil’ A and I were having a quiet moment of snuggle in bed at some point during the day. I’m guessing naptime or bedtime, but I can’t remember. I was reading and she was just resting with me.
She was lying next to me, stroking my hair. It was the sweetest thing EVER.
Then she asks me, in a dreamlike voice…
“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
“Well,” I said “I’m just reading my book so I’m not sure… what are you thinking?”
She continued…
“That I’m a princess.”
Ha! It was so funny. I wasn’t, in fact, thinking about Lil’ A being a princess. But I found it SUPER adorable that she thought that was what I must be thinking!
The other day I was driving the children to church on a Friday morning.
As were were riding along, B says to me “Mama! Stop bumping!" Stop bumping da car!”
And then I laughed and laughed and laughed.
You see, roads here aren’t exactly smooth. Very rarely is there a stretch of road without pothole, open manhole, divit, speed bump of all shapes and sizes, remnants of trenches dug in the past or present… basically there’s always something to swerve around or bump over top of.
Mr. B apparently had enough of it. Which I can understand.
But sadly for him, there is no way around!

This has been rolling around in my head lately. I suppose it relates to my recent post about feasting on wisdom. It truly matters so much what we feed ourselves! I work hard to filter what I am feeding my heart and my mind. And I work just as hard to try to help my children have a feast of good stories to feed their little minds and hearts on.
It matters. It’s shapes who I am. It’s shaping who they will become.
This (hankie) is a “coughing blanket”.
And a quote to go along with that…
“It’s my lucky day ‘cause I have a lot of snot.” –Lil’ A
????
These (apricots) are “apple-cots”.
A loves to eat boiled eggs. So she asks me “Is this a spilling egg?” to find out if it is boiled or not. So cute.
We did a cutting project one day with these “maganees”.
Here is is holding her “password”.
This is what she called pomegranates (of which we have a lot these days)… “pomagrammans”. And so of course that’s what I call them too…
Lastly, another quote…
“Mommy, I’m hot!!! Can you put on a song?”
As if a song is the cure to her temperature problem. Ha!
“Let me watch a play-dough movie for 20 minutes or I will color on you.” –Lil’ A
That’s how four year olds do threats my friends. Be scared. Be very scared.
H: Mom! I’m gonna make a dunk tank in Minecraft.
N: I’m gonna make a castle.
Mike: I’m gonna make a four-plex.
Oh this had me laughing out loud. It just tickled me… four-plex! Ha!
Recently, my sweet little delirious A has said the following:
Me: A, it’s almost time for a nap.
A: (whining) But Mooom, I can’t sleep when I’m taking a rest!!
Me: Uhhhhhhh, what?
and
Me: A, you need to come here for a time out.
A: For how long?
Me: 2 minutes.
A: (Shrugging) But 2 minutes is tooooo short!!! (motioning to me by holding her fingers very close together how very short 2 minutes actually is.)
Me: Um, okay? Does that mean you would like a longer time out?
A: Nope.
Haha! She is hysterical. And delirious sometimes. And cute. And she knows it.
“Thank you God that You can’t die. And that you be healthy. Amen.”
-A, four years old
Happy Resurrection Sunday!

There you have it. Out of the mouths of babes.
“Your shoes are quiet Mommy and my shoes are loud!”
Moccasins, cowboy boots, and a twinkle in her eye.
Recently I blogged about how inspired I’ve been by my kids flexibility and willingness to adjust to their new school and life in general in a new country.
And then a few days later H gave me another great example without even knowing it.
We were having a touristy day with my parents and I let the kids pick a bag of chips part way through for a snack.
The choices here are not what we are accustomed to. Some of the choices were Kebab, Garlic and Cheese and the one my boy chose… A hot dog being roasted over a fire.
Huh.
Wouldn’t have been my first choice, but okay then!
He went about happily munching his chips. Later I asked him
“How are those hot dog chips, H?”
and he replied:
“I’m trying to get used to them, even though they make my eyes water.”
This kid does not have a history of liking spicy things. At. All.
So, ummmm, they are so spicy that they are making his eyes water and he’s eating them still? Because he wants to LEARN TO LIKE THEM?
For real. What nine year old says that?
He’s amazing. And I’m inspired. Again.
We always ask a lot of questions about what happens at the big kids’ school. It’s pretty different from what we’re used to and we are so curious about how things work.
The other day we were asking H about his classmates.
He filled us in:
“I’m friends with all the boys in my class. But I don’t want to play with them at recess. I want to lead a quiet life. I like to do my own thing.”
Oh wow. That right there is a son after the heart of his father. He wants to lead a quiet life and do his own thing. Lord bless his heart. I love him something fierce.
“A. Tell me that’s not a grape between your toes”
and
“A. Stop eating popcorn with scissors.”
Who is this girl?! Never a dull moment.
