Sand!!

We live IN a giant sandbox.

And now we HAVE a sandbox!!

Some friends gave us their box and so I just swept my floors to gather enough sand to fill the nice red shell.

Just kidding.

It's dusty here. But not that dusty.

We actually paid a nice hard-working man to dump five buckets of sand into the red plastic shell when the red plastic shell was in the back of our vehicle.

Here's the breakdown that you didn't ask for:

Cost of red plastic shell: Nada!
Cost of sand: the equivalent of $1.
Cost of labor (we paid the nice sand bucketing man to bucket the sand for us): the equivalent of $0.66

Total cost of sandbox IN the sandbox?

$1.66

Can I hear an amen?!!

Aaaanyway, today it worked wonders.

Well, the sandbox worked wonders for my boy and a tiny pile of sand on the balcony worked wonders for my girl.

She LOVED it.

See that dribble on her chin?

Yup. She sampled the sand.

Again.

Oh well.

H, on the other hand, was busy cracking eggs!

Fun!

Handsome.

And they played together in the little pile.

And then the wind kicked up!! Look at those faces!

They did not know what to do.

"Mama... it's WINDEEEEEEEEEE!"

I couldn't help but giggle at these two. They are funny. And cute.

Very funny and very cute. Very cute and very funny.

More playing together!

Today was a good day. We have lots of those.

Snoozin'

My girlie has a new favorite sleeping position.

She's just so darn cute with her cloth diapered bum stuck up in the air...

Quote of the Day

My boy came to tell me goodnight and I scooped him up into my lap.

He wrapped his little arms wrapped around my neck and said "I just want to stay right here in your arms."

Ohmygoodness. He's got my heart. There's no denying it.

How I love him...

Revival of the Frog Tent

We recently got out H's frog tent that his Aunt Sarah and Uncle Dave got him for his first birthday.

It was a big hit. Again!

He has played in there and even taken a couple naps in the froggy.

It's also good for bedtime reading.

The Winds of Change

(Tomorrow those from the southern part of this country will vote and decide if they'd like to separate from the north part of the country. This vote follows decades of civil war and most recently, six years of peace)
--------

Tonight the winds of change blow through.
This wind shakes the windows. It shakes me too.
In with it comes something different, something new.

Separation or unity. The words circle 'round.
Surrounding these words, implications are wound.
In the city, tomorrow, will a cry of freedom resound?

I cannot sleep as these winds blow through me
My thoughts swim in circles about war, about free.
I’ve always been free. But what if I hadn’t. Who might I be?

What’s it like to be free if you haven’t known it before?
Or what about this? What if all you’ve known is war?
Wouldn’t freedom seem the answer? The ticket to soar?

Freedom motivates. It moves. It cries out to be obtained.
It’s inside us humans. It’s deep. It’s somehow ingrained.

What happens tomorrow? I’m not sure. I can’t say.
“God be in control.” That’s all I can pray.

It’s history in the making. That much is certainly true.
Tonight the winds of change blow through.

Sweet N's First Party

Chilly

Last night I slept under this purple fleece blanket,

this green woven blanket,

tan woven blanket number one,

tan woven blanket number two,

and a jersey sheet.

Oh. And I wore these socks.

The temperature in my bedroom as I laid down?

80.6 degrees. (Fahrenheit)

Wow.

I suppose that when one spends most of the year functioning at temperatures 100 to 125... 80 feels pretty darn chilly!

Stay warm!
