An Explosive Birthday

We celebrated Mike’s birthday recently. His birthday marks the completion of ‘birthday and holiday’ season for me. Most major holiday and all six of our birthdays fall within four months.

Basically I’m exhausted.

Anyway, we just had a couple dear friends for dinner. Chicken tacos were requested and I pulled out all the stops, even making homemade tortillas. That’s love, baby.

The kids and I gave him various gifts. Most of them office supplies because earlier that day I happened to take the kids to the stationary store to purchase N’s long list of school supplies. And I know my man appreciates an envelope now and then when he needs one, so we really went crazy. Even bought him a cube of small white pieces of paper. I know. Out of control.

I also wrapped up this birthday popper thing that he bought for A’s birthday (one week earlier) and forgot about.

I look at this picture and can hear A asking “Wha is it Daaaady?”

IMG_4315

Once everyone understood what it was (and that it was going to be loud) the area cleared out.

And the birthday boy was left to try to open the thing.

IMG_4320

Trying to open it, that is, never knowing when it’s gonna BLOW!

IMG_4327

Nope, not yet.

IMG_4333

Maybe I should try like this.

IMG_4338

Or this way.

IMG_4341

Let’s try like this…

IMG_4342

Oh my goodness…

Tiny TEENY tiny bit of colored foiled E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E.

IMG_4346

Whose idea was this?

IMG_4347

Ha! It was great fun! We laughed and laughed and after a few minutes of delay, Lil’ A cried and cried cause it scared her. Poor baby.

So after comforting the toddler and sweeping up 446,664,345 tiny bits of foil, I served the birthday peach crumble (as requested).

Happy Birthday, we love you so much!

Fingerpaint Fun

Forgive the beginners alliteration and the topic that is not really interesting unless you’re futuristic me, longing for when my babies were small, and yelling “maMA” every three minutes (seconds). Or a grandparent. Grandparents also appreciate these posts.

I bought Lil’ A fingerpaint for her birthday. It was a selfless gift, for sure, cause it’s fun for her but work for me.

Anyway, when she asked to do it later that week, I could hardly say no. So I said yes! And it was pretty darn fun. For a girl that doesn’t often stop moving, she sat for quite awhile working on paper after paper. I even did some fingerpainting myself… namely painting the outline of shapes so she could ‘color’ them in with her fingerpaint.

She was so happy, I felt like a good Mom for doing a craft project with her, and nothing was stained in the process (although she did get some paint in her hair, which is no big surprise.)

Win. Win. Win.

I think we’ll do it again

Silly Snoozer

Can you spot the napping Lil’ A?

IMG_4512

Sometimes A gets to nap in Mommy and Daddy’s big bed. She thinks it’s pretty special. This day she decided to completely hide herself before falling asleep. I even uncovered her face a few times during her nap and when I’d go back in she had covered it again.

I’d pay GOOD money to know what goes through this toddler’s mind!

Munchies

IMG_4579_thumb1

This is Mister B in his bouncy seat placed on top of his pack & play bassinet. (He’s often been stuffy and sleeping in his bouncer helps a bit.) We had a few flies in the house that day so I covered him with a mosquito net cause we all know how annoying it is to try and nap when there are flies around.

Later I came to get him up and found him munching on the net. Oops.

A Baby, Big Siblings and a Milestone

It's really so much fun to have a baby with bigger siblings around to share in the joy and help too!

Recently, Mister B rolled over for the first time! Buuut I was in the shower. However the big kids knew just what to do. I heard their excitement and encouragement from the other side of the apartment. Then H came to take my phone to take a pic of the baby (and his thumb) to document the occasion.

So here we have a baby milestone appropriately praised and documented, even in the absence of a parent. Gotta love that.

THIS Stage

We are in THIS stage. The stage that I think all little boys go through...

(especially those with little sisters!)

Oh I love him.

Quote of the Day

H, on the way home from school:

"Mom. I'll give you one funny fact about the bathrooms at school."

Uuuuhhhh. Okay, let's hear it.

"They have no toilet paper!"

Haha, every day is an adventure...

(Note to self. Purchase many small packs of tissues and pack them in my children's backpacks.)
