This little lady gave me a new name. She randomly started calling me “Ma” after years of “Mommy” and “Mama” and “Mom”. I have no idea what sparked the change.
But I love it.

It’s a good thing this girlie was around to help me bake today. I just don’t know if I could have done it without her!
She sees EVERYTHING we do these days. I only had to put the teaspoon in the box of baking soda one time and next thing I know she’s grabbing them both from me and doing the same.
She’s learning so very fast. Wonderful! And scary that she can mimic after just one time?!
After a very quick week in Africa, where Lil’ A did great with jet lag and so many new faces… it was time to head home already!
Thankfully, this time I wasn’t traveling with her alone!
She was once again a popular little lady. Above she is distracting the security lady who took a liking to her…
She did sleep some!
And in Frankfurt there was some playing,
and lots of walking here and there and here and there with her Daddy.
Moving sidewalks are such good entertainment.
We were given AMAZING upgraded seats for free on the longest flight. I couldn’t have been more thankful!
Girlie had her own seat,
But she did better sleeping on the floor for the few hours she took a break from wreaking havoc up and down the aisles. Mostly what I remember from these flights is Lil’ A going up and down the aisles using any kind of funny mode of transportation she could come up with herself… walking, running, crawling, walking on her knees, etc. She could really move quickly up and down those skinny aisles on her feet. Lots of passengers were sleeping and my biggest fear was that she was going to smack the bald head of a sleeping man that was hanging half-way out into the aisle! She never did, whew!
She did try to take people food and drinks off their trays, and try to sneak into first class and hide in the back of the galley where all the rolling carts are stored.
Aaaaanyway, it was challenging again, obviously. But I’m so glad this girlie is my little companion, around the world and back.
After H’s birthday, we had a little thank-you-note-writing training session. If he’s old enough to write, he’s old enough to write thank you cards!
So we made a list and we went at it.
It was so fun! Here is a sampling…
Our fam recently had an opportunity to have a friend do a mini-session for portraits. He made it so fun and easy and quick and we could NOT have been more pleased with the outcome. If you’re in Colorado Springs and need an amazing photographer for portraits or any event, check him out here, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you so much Ted for these photos… they are treasures!
We had our first snow today! It was coooooold day…
But as soon as Lil’ A went down for a nap the big kids and I geared up and headed out. It was so fun.
This is the first year as an adult that I have sufficient snow gear for temperatures like this. An gifted European super warm ski coat, garage-saled mittens (they’re like boxing gloves they are so thick and warm!), used snow pants (overalls, really) and proper snow boots! I’m so thankful!
Now there is literally no stopping me from tackling my kids to the ground in the snow 500 times. I just can’t stop myself, their giggles are the best and the ground is so soft in the snow!
We celebrated H’s birthday this week. He’s so fun!
It’s tradition to wake up to balloons on your bed!
And to a special place setting at the table.
There were more decorations at school, and gifts!
The students in H’s class take time to hear from God and encourage the birthday boy/girl. H doesn’t look happy here, I don’t know why!
Then they all pray for him. What a gift! I am so thankful for H’s lil’ school during this season!
And his teacher… we love you Ms. Becky!
Passing out treats during snack time.
After school it was back home for a day full of joy, gifts, phone calls from family, the birthday boy’s requested dinner, cake and candles!
Wonderful. I’m so blessed to have this boy in my life…
