Highchair Girlie

IMG_3597

Baby girlie isn’t eating food yet (I am not a huge fan of the baby food stage and am avoiding it…) but she does like to sit in her (not so high) high chair! She’s started sitting at meals with the rest of us sometimes which is kind of fun. Now if we could teach her better manners and get her to stop squealing and drooling it would be good…

Being a Mama is such a joy. It’s the little things.

Also, did you SEE that grin?!

Goodbye Tours–Our Church

Every Sunday evening, this is where we’d be. One of the two international churches in the city.

We loved the community of families that gathered together. We were always greeted at the gate. We were always welcomed. We felt at home.

I loved the indoor/outdoor set up of the building. Until a dust storm came. Then I didn’t love it so much.

We regularly put on children’s programs, which were so wonderful. It was a simple church and that’s one of the things that was beautiful about it.

Christmas Pageant 002

Here’s my little man in a Christmas Program. Be still my heart.

Girlie used to sit on the ground at our feet and throw fits, which actually look pretty dang cute in this photo.

When she grew up a little she spent many-a-sermon carefully cleaning the dust off her feet. That’s a sad, unending occupation for a little girl who lives in the desert.

So many memories. Time spent in the nursery with wee ones. Teaching Sunday School lessons. Eating finger-food fellowship meals. Setting up a coffee refreshment table. ALWAYS carrying things to church to pass on to someone else to carry on with The Great Stuff Trade. Sweating. Strategically choosing a seat under the fan. Still sweating. Meeting new friends and catching up with the old.

Soon after we left, the property was confiscated. We don’t believe the body of Christ gathers here anymore.

It’s devastating.

Goodbye dear church.

Charming

I have a charm bracelet. My sister bought it for me. And I love it. I want it to be a piece of my life with reminders from different seasons. My passions. My stories.  A little ebenezer of all God has/is doing/will do for me in my life.

One recent season that has ended for us needed a place on my bracelet. And I was inspired by this gift that was given to me in January and took a little gander around etsy.com with an idea in my head.

I found me an affordable little shop called Deedle’s Designs and started talking with her about a custom charm.

It came in the mail.

It’s perfect.

And I have since heard reports that building Lego creations has now become much easier because exponentially less time is spent digging in the bin for JUUUUUUSTTT that one exact piece that is needed to perfect the helicopter/car/whatever.

:)

Oh how I love my family.

Buggies and Worms

My daughter has been officially influenced by a little friend of hers. This little friend has taught my girlie to love bugs and worms!

Aaaack!!!

Today Sweet N had proudly found a worm for a pet when she was playing outside. She had the little thing cradled in her hands and she wasn’t squirming or shivering from the yuck of it all (like I would be).

I was going to have her release dear little (gross) worm to the wild before we returned home. But despite my protests,  little friend’s FATHER quickly showed N how to get a cup, put the necessary dirt and leaves inside and then take it home to put on the balcony.

Thanksalot.

Ed Emberley’s Make A World

Apparently this book has been around for awhile.

But I just discovered it.

I was on the hunt for something that might help my boy branch out a bit in his drawing. Something to help him realize that there are all kinds of things to draw and that he can do it!

IMG_3585

This was just the ticket.

IMG_3587

Inside it has hundreds of sets of simple step by step instructions on how to draw ALL kinds of things.

IMG_3588

Animals.

IMG_3589

People.

IMG_3590

Extension ladders and TV towers!

IMG_3591

Doghouses.

IMG_3592

And dogs!

When my sis was here she sat down with the kiddos and put the doghouse and dog together…

IMG_3593

Here is Sweet N’s. I think she had some help! :)

IMG_3594

Sarah named her dog “Pup”.

IMG_3595

And H named his “Spot”. He did so well!

Isn’t it fun?
